Joint concert with American military bands
The joint concert of the Artistic Ensemble of the Ministry of Defence “Stanislav Binički,” "The 122nd Army Band" of the Ohio National Guard, and “Five Star Brass” from the U.S. Air Forces in Europe Band was held last night in the Grand Hall of the Army House in Belgrade.

The diversity of military uniforms and musical ensembles on stage, along with the richness of genres in the program, made this concert a dynamic and vibrant musical event.

The evening opened with the subtle sounds of works by Scriabin, Mozart, and Mascagni, performed by the string septet of the “Binički” ensemble. This was followed by the American brass quintet, which brought a completely different sound and rhythm to the stage. Their repertoire combined old European forms, contemporary compositions, and popular American genres—from classical and musical theatre to jazz and swing—captivating the audience with energy and playfulness.

Under the direction of all three conductors—Aleksandar Đurov, Rafael Toro-Quiñones, and Emily Bauer—the combined orchestra performed a popular program including a medley of ABBA songs, music from The Godfather, and Quincy Jones’s Soul Bossa Nova. Adding a special touch to the joint performance were soloists from our Ensemble’s mixed choir: Biljana Vasiljević Mitrović, soprano, and Dragan Milanović, tenor.

The concert represents a continuation of cooperation between the two countries in the field of military music, as “Binički” has so far given several joint performances with various American military bands.
