Gala concert to mark Serbian Armed Forces Day



The Artistic Ensemble of the Ministry of Defence “Stanislav Binički“ held a concert at the MTS Concert Hall tonight to mark the Serbian Armed Forces Day.
 Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Miloš Vučević, accompanied by his associates, members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces and a big audience attended the concert.



The Ministry of Defence had decided to organize this free concert as a gift for the citizens to mark the Serbian Armed Forces Day. The concert also included special guests – Kiki Lesandrić and “Piloti”, Pavlina Radovanović, the vocal group “Dimitrije Koturović” and the choir of the Children’s Cultural Centre.  
 Music lovers were able to enjoy a rich repertoire comprising popular, traditional, classical and patriotic music.  



The programme started with Giuseppe Verdi’s “Aida: Triumphal March”, followed by the song “Najlepša je zemlja moja” (My Country is the Most Beautiful) performed by the children’s choir.Guided by musical road signs, the audience remembered the historical paths of glory and trials experienced by our people. Compositions performed by soloists Biljana Vasiljević Mitrović and Katarina Božić, solo accordionist Sergeant Major 1st Class Branislav Ivković, Artistic Ensemble "Stanislav Binički", Academic Choir "Obilić", Folk Ensemble "Branko Krsmanović", Amateur Choir of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces and the choir of the Children’s Cultural Centre received standing ovations.


 
The remainder of the programme was filled with traditional Serbian folk songs, as well as art music with folk motifs performed by soloist Dragan Milanović and the vocal group "Dimitrije Koturović". The songs "Orahovcu, Bašto Rajska" (Orahovac, the Garden of Eden”) and "Hey Kosovo, Kosovo" performed by Pavlina Radovanović were greeted with applause.


 The audience then had the opportunity to enjoy popular music performed by soloists Biljana Vasiljević Mitrović and Nataša Aranđelović. Majors Duško Stamenković and Duško Trnavac performed the composition "Hameum Suite", a captivating mixture of musical styles, and the audience was enthralled with the hits "Kao ptica na mom dlana" (Like a Bird on my Palm) and "Zaboravljeni" (Forgotten)performed by Kiki Lesandrić and "Piloti".



The concert was conducted by Dijana Cvetković and Nevena Ivanović. At the end of the concert, the audience thanked the performers for their virtuoso musical performances with thunderous applause to the beat of "March to River Drina".
